The Drum and Lyre Corps in the District Meet Opening Ceremony

It was understandable when the members of the Drum and Lyre Corps got upset after the confirmation that there won't be any Drum and Lyre Competition in Bakood 2014.

But their disappointment vanished in the air when they were informed that they will be performing in the opening ceremony of the Bacoor II District Meet. Finally, they will be able to showcase their talent!

Everybody was excited! Even my kids did not hesitate to wake up as early as 4AM to prepare for the parade and the program. It was surprising that I did not hear any complain. No tantrum was thrown. How I wish our mornings will always be like this!

As soon as we were ready, we headed to the school grounds where we will meet the rest of the members of the Drum and Lyre Corps. We grouped the members and their parents in three groups -- Group 1 will ride in the van where the drums were arranged, Group 2 is composed of the majorettes and rest of the drummers as well as their parents, and Group 3 is composed of the lyrists and their stage mothers.

The lyrists stand in line while waiting for the parade to start.

The cute flag bearers did not mind if their flag poles are taller than them. Don't you worry, those metals are not heavy!

Of course, the majorettes will not let their fans down! They kept twirling their batons even while walking. Yes, nonstop!

Through bumps and humps, our little lyrists never stopped playing during the parade.

Would you believe these two boys are siblings?

Whether bass drum or snare drum, the boys hit them as loud as they can.

The serious little drummer boys and the bubbly adviser of our Drum and Lyre Corps, Miss Laarni M. Mina. Life is indeed ironic, isn't it?

I will always be proud of my princess and princes.

Here is the video of their performance.
